Media is covering every news no matter in which field or country it is and they work 24×7 so that they can provide relevant news to the public.
The job of a Journalist is not easy to do as they have to put many efforts to prove the relevancy of the particular news. So, it is the duty of government to provide them some benefits.
And therefore, Odisha government has decided to take a step forward for Journalists of the State.
And then this Scheme called “Odisha Gopabandhu Sambadika Swasthya Bima Yojana” is launched. This Scheme is launched by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and this scheme will be operational from 1 June 2018.
The main aim of this Scheme is to provide Health Insurance Scheme to Journalists.
Under this scheme, all the journalists who are working will get health insurance coverage of Rs. 2 lakhs per annum This insurance coverage will be applicable for cashless treatment in public and private hospitals.
So, Journalists can avail free treatment up to Rs. 2 lakhs through health insurance card. Initially, approx. 3233 journalists from different media group will get this Health Insurance.
This scheme also benefits the family members of the Journalists. But, Only 5 members of the journalist family can avail this scheme benefits.
The main highlights and features of this scheme are as follows:
- This Scheme is a welfare scheme for the media persons in the state.
- Initially, 3233 working journalists will be benefited from this scheme.
- All working journalists will get an insurance coverage of up to Rs.2 lakhs per year.
- At least, 5 members of the Journalist family can avail benefits of this scheme.
This scheme has been launched so that if any journalist got injured while performing their duties can avail the benefits from this scheme in any public or private hospital by showing their health insurance Card.
Since, journalist works in adverse climate and conditions to provide the public relevant and true information it is the duty of government to provide them with some benefits.
CM Naveen Patnaik also interacted with journalists after the announcement of Gopabandhu Sambadika Swasthya Bima Yojana.
Media is the 4th Pillar of the Indian Democracy and it is necessary to ensure that it is maintained.
Chief Minister encourages Journalists and also appreciates their efforts for their contribution to society.
CM also makes commitment for free press and welfare of journalists.
Odisha government has taken a great step towards the welfare of journalists because they are putting their whole effort in giving true and relevant information to the general public.
So, it is the duty of government to provide them and their families with some benefits.
And this step will encourage journalist as these scheme will create a sense of assurance towards government.
