Ration Card are documents issued by the Government for obtaining benefits under the Public Distribution System.

The government of Chhattisgarh provides a subsidy for essential food items and commodities are distributed through fair price to every ration card holder.

What is BPL?

BPL stands for Below Poverty Line. It is an economic benchmark set by the government of India to identify the economically weaker people and households in urgent need of government help to get the basic things. It refers to a particular amount of income. 

The people whose income is below this particular income are considered poor or below the poverty line. 

The government launches various schemes to help the BPL section so that their basic needs like food, shelter and clothes could be fulfilled.

There are two types of BPL card is provided according to the income of the family. Types of BPL card are:-

1.) Rural BPL CARD

2.) Urban BPL CARD

Welfare schemes of Rural BPL CARD

  • Indira Gandhi National OLD age pension scheme.
  • Indira Awaas Yojna 
  • Swaranjayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojna
  • National Social Assistance program 
  • National Family benefit Scheme 
  • Annapurna Scheme

Indira Gandhi National OLD age pension scheme:- In this scheme who are in the age of between 60-79 years they will get RS 200 per month.

And who are 80 years above will get Rs 500per month.

Indira Awaas Yojna :- Its main objective is to give permanent house to widows, ex-serviceman, or people below the poverty line.

Swaranjayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojna :- The scheme is established with the intent of bringing assisted low-income families (also referred to as swarozgaris) above the poverty line by providing them with an appreciable sustained income over a period of time..

  • Urban Self Emplacement program
  • Urban Women Self Emplacement program
  • Skill training for Employment Promotion amongst Urban poor
  • Urban wage employment program
  • Urban Community development network. 

Poverty line criteria of Chhattisgarh:-

738 families are having Rural Below poverty line card.

849 families are having Urban Below poverty line card.

Chhattisgarh BPL

Chhattisgarh is the poorest states where over 40 per cent of people are below the poverty line, according to the C Rangarajan panel. According to the report of the panel headed by former PMEAC Chairman C Rangarajan, 47.9 per cent people are poor in Chhattisgarh.

Documents Required for Ration Card in Chhattisgarh

The required documents are to be furnished along with the application form.

Procedure to Apply for Ration Card

To register for ration card in Chhattisgarh, follow the steps mentioned below:

Step 1: The applicant has to visit the official website of Chhattisgarh Government.

Step 2: Click on “Application letter for ration card” which is displayed on the home page of the portal.

Step 3: Now, the applicant can able to download the application form for a ration card.

Step 4: Fill the application form with required details and attach the prescribed documents along with that application.

Step 5: Then submit your hand written filled application to the nearest government office.

Step 6: Upon submission, the applicant will be provided with acknowledgement slip for further reference.
